Wildlife & Ecology
The Grumeti holds some of the largest Nile crocodiles in the Serengeti ecosystem, some estimated at over 15 feet, which lie in wait at the same crossing points used by the migration each June and July. The surrounding riverine forest also supports colobus monkey troops rarely seen on the open plains.
Getting There
The western corridor is reached via the Grumeti or Kirawira airstrips, around an hour's flight from Arusha, or by road along the western corridor route, which takes considerably longer given unpaved sections.
