Lake Manyara is best known for its tree-climbing lions, a behavioral adaptation rarely seen elsewhere in Africa, along with large troops of baboon and blue monkey in its groundwater forest. The alkaline lake supports one of the densest hippo pools in the Northern Circuit and seasonal flocks of flamingo.
Getting There
The park entrance is around 1.5 hours from Arusha via Mto wa Mbu, making it an easy addition to a Northern Circuit route on the way to or from Ngorongoro and the Serengeti.
