Marangu Gate to first camp
Register at Marangu Gate and trek through montane forest to Mandara Hut, the first night's camp on the Marangu route.
Trek to Horombo Hut
A trekking day gaining altitude toward Horombo Hut, with the guide setting a deliberately slow pace to aid acclimatization.
Trek to Kibo Hut
A trekking day gaining altitude toward Kibo Hut, with the guide setting a deliberately slow pace to aid acclimatization.
Summit night & descent to lower camp
Depart around midnight for the summit, reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m) around sunrise, then descending to a lower camp the same day to sleep.
Descent to Marangu Gate gate
A final descent through changing vegetation zones back to the park gate, followed by a transfer to Arusha or Moshi for a hot shower and celebration dinner.
