Londorossi Gate to first camp
Register at Londorossi Gate and trek through montane forest to Shira 1 Camp, the first night's camp on the Northern Circuit route.
Trek to Moir Hut
A trekking day gaining altitude toward Moir Hut, with the guide setting a deliberately slow pace to aid acclimatization.
Trek to Buffalo Camp
A trekking day gaining altitude toward Buffalo Camp, with the guide setting a deliberately slow pace to aid acclimatization.
Trek to Third Cave Camp
A trekking day gaining altitude toward Third Cave Camp, with the guide setting a deliberately slow pace to aid acclimatization.
Trek to School Hut
A trekking day gaining altitude toward School Hut, with the guide setting a deliberately slow pace to aid acclimatization.
Acclimatization day
A short acclimatization walk to a higher point and back down to sleep at the same camp, following the mountain guide principle of 'climb high, sleep low'.
Summit night & descent to lower camp
Depart around midnight for the summit, reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m) around sunrise, then descending to a lower camp the same day to sleep.
Descent to Londorossi Gate gate
A final descent through changing vegetation zones back to the park gate, followed by a transfer to Arusha or Moshi for a hot shower and celebration dinner.
